TOFT COLOURS

TOFT specialises in luxury yarn made in the UK from premium quality, 100% sheep’s wool. Our yarn is available in a broad natural colour spectrum of twelve shades. The colours derive from the blends of undyed alpaca fleece which made the original TOFT yarns.

In 2015, with the creation of Edward’s Menagerie: Birds, we began to produce yarn in six bright colours intended as complementary highlights to the natural spectrum.

After the success of our collaboration with yarn-dyers across the world for the launch of Kerry the Chameleon in 2016, we now create our own limited-edition batches of yarn that is dyed to a new colourway.

During 2019-2020 we introduced six new bright colours to our range, which now includes twelve shades that complement our natural yarn.

While we endeavour to make sure that all of our yarn is in stock (with the exception of our limited edition yarns that will only be spun or dyed once), please note that there may be some occasions when we have sold out of specific colours and weights. If you have any questions about a specific colour or weight of TOFT yarn, please contact [email protected].

Due to the nature of TOFT yarns, it is difficult to identically recreate the same colour everytime we spin. Please check your 'Batch Number' for exact colour matches.

YARN WEIGHTS

Our core yarn range is available in three different weights: DK. ARAN, CHUNKY. The majority of TOFT colours are available in each yarn weight, but not all. TOFT yarns were made to allow substitution of any other by using double (or quadruple!) strands together, i.e. two strands of DK is the equivalent of ARAN, and two strands of ARAN is equal to CHUNKY. This was due to the limited availability of certain colours and yarn weights and still proves a great strength to our designing today.
