TOFT's 15 Years Magazine

Our Autumn 2021 issue of our in-house pattern magazine is an incredibly special one to us, offering a lovingly curated selection of 15 of the very best of TOFT’s designs, telling the history of our company through timeless crochet and knit projects. Every member of the TOFT team was involved in creating this jam-packed 56 page bumper issue, and we all enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane in the process!

Inside this bumper issue are classic, iconic and re-vamped TOFT patterns along with a couple of new projects to inspire you to get making.

* The 8 knitting patterns are: Macha Bag, Tulley Headband, Altan Snood, Dolche Beret, Mae Jumper, Mira Cowl, Padme Snood, Koru Hat.

* The 7 crochet patterns are: Valda Scarf, Nashira shawl, Stala Cowl, Kerry the Chameleon, Hope the Whale, Hockley Hat, Talulah the Bananquit.

* TOFT’s history, future plans and company history timeline, told by founder Kerry Lord.

We have included two very special knitting patterns that will push your crafting expertise to the next level - as you felt your project after you have finished knitting! The prospect of felting your Macha bag and Dolche Beret might make you a little nervous, but just know that you can take the process slowly, and that your end product with be utterly beautiful, adding a unique splash of style to your wardrobe for years to come.

Early on in my adventures with yarn I fell in love with the texture of felt and the process of transforming stitches from a loose uneven fabric into a smooth structured shape. Felting knitting like this means that the fabric still has movement but has a fluffy surface texture and becomes wind and rainproof. I am thrilled to revisit this pattern and bring it up-to-date, and it will once again be entering my wardrobe for the first time in over a decade.” - Kerry Lord

A wonderful beginner pattern for those looking to expand their crochet knowledge and get their hooks into a new crochet project is the Valda Scarf. We have re-visited and perfected our very first granny square design into this beautifully oversized crochet accessory, which looks fashionable in any of our CHUNKY and ARAN yarns. We made ours in CHUNKY Shale and Cream, with the addition of our gorgeous new Yellow ARAN, which is worked into the pattern holding two strands together while crocheting to match the thickness of our CHUNKY.

Officially the first ever TOFT crochet pattern, this oversized granny square scarf was the perfect pattern to sell ready-to-wear handmade scarves. Due to the bulky chunky yarn and huge hook size it was quick for my team of makers to crochet.” - Kerry Lord

When completing the projects in this magazine you will need a range of different sized crochet hooks and circular knitting needles, toy stuffing, a wool needle and coloured yarn for facial features of the amigurumi animals. You can choose your colour palette from TOFT’s luxurious pure wool yarn. Click here to find out.

TOFT's Giant Wooden Button

TOFT’s iconic Giant button is back!

Years after retirement, this classic TOFT accessory is back with a bang and re-joins our wide range of tools and habedashery. Used on many a design in the early years of TOFT, it was one of the first things we thought of re-stocking when planning our 15th birthday celebratory collection. Crafted in the UK from oak wood, these larger-than-life buttons are the perfect finishing touch to TOFT’s Macha Bag.

These very special and limited edition TOFT buttons can be purchased as a single button to complete your TOFT Macha bag, or as a set of four. In addition to being the statement piece on your felted handbag design, these buttons would also make the perfect coaster on any crafter’s desk or coffee table.

Made in the UK from natural oak, these buttons will each have unique tones and markings, measuring approximately 12cm in diameter.

Yellow ARAN is here!

Feast your eyes on our gorgeous new colour of ARAN. As a TOFT fan favourite it seemed only right to offer this lovely bright shade across DK and ARAN weights. This is the first time this colour has been available in ARAN and is perfect for injecting a warmth and vibrancy into your wardrobe, as well as for supersizing your favourite ‘Edward’s Menagerie’ animal or bird pattern.

TOFT’s Yellow ARAN yarn is one of the three colours that forms the palette within our 15 year special edition magazine along with Cream and Shale.

We sized up some of our favourite Ed's animals in this illuminating colour, including Blanche the Seahorse, Geraldine the Duck, Kerry the Chameleon, as well as TOFT’s brand new feathered friend - Talulah the Bananquit.

I would like to pause for a breath at this huge milestone and give a huge thanks to you, our customers, both long standing and new who have shopped with us over the last decade and a half. I continue to be motivated and inspired by the daily feedback of seeing my patterns and our yarn used in incredibly creative ways by you. I will never tire of hearing the stories of how our products have spread joy and happiness to both those making them and those receiving the finished items." - Kerry Lord
