TOFT are very proud to present a 15th Birthday collection, brought together by revisiting and perfecting our most iconic and favourite designs from the last decade and a half. These patterns helped shape TOFT into the company it is today, each one causing a twist and turn on our path to 2021. These patterns follow our journey from the very early ready-to-wear collections through to the first creation of Edward’s Menagerie and to a brand new pattern that celebrates this year and the future.

TOFT’s very first granny square design is back! The stylish and cosy Valda Scarf is a must have crochet project from TOFT’s fashion-led range of crochet accessories. This design was first available in 2008.

“Officially the first ever TOFT crochet pattern, this oversized granny square scarf was the perfect pattern to sell ready-to-wear handmade scarves. Due to the bulky chunky yarn and huge hook size it was quick for my team of makers to crochet and just left me with the ends to sew in. Even though I had not yet mastered the crochet stitches myself I had long admired the granny square and it was easy to design even in a craft I could not do when using such a classic motif and techniques with a very modern twist. The early ones we sold combined far more colours than three, and we often made sure that not even a few metres of precious alpaca yarn was ever wasted by making these from all the leftover smaller balls from other projects.”

A fantastic choice for a beginner looking to expand their crochet techniques, the Valda Scarf is made using TOFT's pure wool range of seriously luxurious yarn spun in Yorkshire from the finest fleeces. Our pure wool yarns are versatile and can be used for most knitting and crochet patterns creating wonderful garments for adults and children, and a full range of accessories.

THIS KIT CONTAINS: 480g of TOFT's luxury CHUNKY and 200g TOFT’s luxury ARAN pure wool in the colours of your choice.

YOU WILL NEED: To complete TOFT’s Valda Scarf pattern you will need a few added extras, including a 12mm crochet hook and a wool needle. Go to our recommended section below to get direct links to these products.

MEASUREMENTS: When finished approximately 26 x 156cm when flat after blocking.

SKILL LEVEL 1 : This pattern is suitable for complete beginners.
