This year to mark our 12th birthday we’re hosting TOFTfest here at HQ over the weekend of 4th and 5th August. From Kerry Lord’s iconic Edward’s Menagerie collection of crochet soft toys to our Limited Edition Hand-Dyed batches of TOFT yarn, it’s the perfect opportunity to join Team TOFT as we throw our own special birthday party!
We’ll be offering the usual favourites of alpaca halter walking (with plenty of selfie opportunities!), tours of the TOFT Alpacas’ farm and our 150 on-site alpacas, and inspiring talks from founder Kerry Lord, as well as new and exciting craft activities for you and your family to get involved in.
We’re excited to be able to offer a Hand Dye Taster Session, a drop-in workshop to learn the process of turning TOFT yarn into the hand-painted designs of your dreams. With our range of TOFT 25g DK shades to choose from as your base, along with a whole spectrum of dye to dip, paint and splatter to your heart’s content, it’s going to be a true celebration of colour. Whether you’re planning a multicoloured mini Leanne the Chameleon or if you’re in search of the perfect purple for Orla the Octopus, the possibilities are endless.
Our Learn to Knit and Crochet areas provide an ideal opportunity to learn a new skill or to pass on your passion to your friends and family. Our team of experts will be on hand to answer all your TOFT knitting and crochet questions and an exclusive TOFTfest pattern will be on offer. And if you’ve heard about our Ed’s Animals Summer Photo Competition, we’re going to have an extra special Ed’s Animals parachute display in the Studio.
And that’s not all; you can look forward to making miniature versions of Ed’s Animals out of clay, and try your hand at cross stitching to create your own TOFT pin badge canvas.
No TOFT event is complete without your favourite beverage and of course cake! Our usual coffees and teas will be available alongside a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, and you can look forward to some exclusive treats from our local cake supplier. At midday we’ll fire up the BBQ to offer a range of freshly-made lunch options, so there’s no need to bring a picnic.
If you don’t have a ticket to this exclusive event, don’t panic! We’re going to be sharing all the goings-on during the weekend on our usual social media channels, and we’re planning something special for our online customers too, so you won’t miss out on the fun.
While we’re busy behind the scenes at HQ making last-minute preparations, we hope you’re ready to make this year’s celebration the best yet!

- Entry to TOFTfest is by pre-paid ticket only and we will not be open to the public during the weekend of the 4th and 5th August.
- Please wear comfortable and sensible footwear with a closed toe and heel for our Hand Dye Taster Sessions.
- Our Hand Dye Taster Sessions are suitable for over-3s only and under 16s must be under parental supervision.
