Didier the Poitou Donkey first appeared as an instalment of Ed's Animals Club in 2018 and has been a favourite member of the menagerie ever since. The Poitou donkey was originally bred for agriculture in the so-called region of France and was eventually replaced by more powerful machinery, resulting in the breed becoming critically endangered by the 1950s. Thankfully conservation efforts have increased their numbers over the next few decades, and this crochet pattern is a tribute to one of the largest breeds of donkey in the world.

YOU WILL NEED: To complete your crochet animal you will need a few added extras including a 3mm crochet hook, toy stuffing and a wool needle. Find everything you need in our haberdashery section or upgrade to a complete kit which includes all of the above!
MEASUREMENTS: When finished your Poitou Donkey will be approximately 30cm tall from feet to top of ears.
