A fantastic choice for a beginner looking to expand their knitting techniques, the Koru hat is stylish, comfy and a must have knit project from TOFT’s fashion-led range of knitted accessories. You will have originally seen this hat in 2011 and in 2021, we revisited and perfected some of our most iconic and favourite designs from the previous decade and a half. These patterns helped shape TOFT into the company it is today, each one causing a twist and turn on our path to 2021 and beyond.
“Although hats very similar to this design had been in the TOFT range for some years, it was not until 2012 that the lovely stretchy panels of stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch were made using our Aran yarn. This was also around the time that the TOFT alpaca pom poms really took off in popularity, and for the first time no one ever wanted to buy a hat or kit without a fluffy pom pom to go on top. The iconic and best-selling TOFT wooden buttons and the designs that they were placed upon became replaced by hats, hats and more hats. One-ball projects that are very easy to make like this were perfect for teaching knitting workshops to complete beginners. We had built a reputation in our area for knitting workshops and were already getting booked up in advance ready to open our Studio HQ doors.”

ADD POM POM: Choose to add a TOFT alpaca pom pom to your hat in a coordinated or contrasting colour. TOFT alpaca pom poms are mounted onto press studs so they are interchangeable and your hat is fully washable. Sew the outer press stud to the top of your hat using yarn then snap it together with the pom pom side of the stud for the perfect finish to your hat!
The knitting pattern is provided digitally in .pdf format. You can download this from a link that will appear in your MY TOFT area and at the bottom of your order confirmation email, which you can save or print at your own convenience.
