TOFT are very proud to present a 15th Birthday collection, brought together by revisiting and perfecting our most iconic and favourite designs from the last decade and a half. These patterns helped shape TOFT into the company it is today, each one causing a twist and turn on our path to 2021. These patterns follow our journey from the very early ready-to-wear collections through to the first creation of Edward’s Menagerie and to a brand new pattern that celebrates this year and the future.
The Dolche Beret is a beautifully classic design, and a must have knit project from TOFT’s fashion-led range of knitted accessories. We first launched this design in 2009.
“Early on in my adventures with yarn I fell in love with the texture of felt and the process of transforming stitches from a loose uneven fabric into a smooth structured shape. Felting knitting like this means that the fabric still has movement but has a fluffy surface texture and becomes wind and rainproof. I am thrilled to revisit this pattern and bring it up-to- date, and it will once again be entering my wardrobe for the first time in over a decade. When making this hat remember that all our washing machines are slightly different in terms of rotations on a cycle etc. Approach the process gently knowing that you can always do it a little bit more until you get the perfect fit.”
A fantastic choice for a beginner looking to expand their knitting and felting techniques, the Dolche Beret is made using TOFT's pure wool range of seriously luxurious yarn spun in Yorkshire from the finest fleeces. Our pure wool yarns are versatile and can be used for most knitting and crochet patterns creating wonderful garments for adults and children, and a full range of accessories.

The knitting pattern is provided digitally in .pdf format. You can download this from a link that will appear in your MY TOFT area and at the bottom of your order confirmation email, which you can save or print at your own convenience.
YOU WILL NEED: To complete TOFT’s Dolche Beret pattern you will need a few added extras, including a 5mm & 6mm circular knitting needle, stitch marker and a wool needle. Go to our recommended section below to get direct links to these products.
MEASUREMENTS: When finished and felted beret should be approx. 27cm diameter when flat for an adult and 25cm for a child.
SKILL LEVEL 2: This pattern is suitable for enthusiastic beginners or those who have knitted before.
IT WILL TAKE: Approx. 5-10 hrs knit time.
CARE: Approach the felting process gently, know that you can always do it a little bit more until you get it perfect. Use non-bio detergent when felting and please remember that everyones washing machine is different. Do not hot wash to begin with, take care with this process. TOFT cannot take any responsibility for over-felted items.
