This TOFT branded bamboo hook is for a technique known as Tunisian (Afghan) crochet.
Tunisian crochet is a craft that creates a fabric resembling a more traditional knitted piece, rather than crochet as it is named. Also known as 'Afghan crochet', Tunisian crochet uses an elongated hook, usually with a cable and stopper attached to the end and holds multiple loops on the hook in a style similar to knitting. Some might say Tunisian crochet is a hybrid between knitting and crochet, and you can learn how with Kerry Lord's #tofttunisiancal on Instagram @toft_uk where she takes you through the basics of the craft to make the Trellis Headband (kit sold separately).
For Tunisian crochet in the round, you will need a cable and two hooks, both of which can be added above. For standard Tunisian crochet, you will need one hook and a cable. The cable comes with an end cap (or stopper) and a cable key included.
WE RECOMMEND: Projects that use the Tunisian crochet technique can be found across our website. These include the Trellis Headband, Ashler Snood, Killick Wristwarmers, Scooter Cowl, Strawberry Wristwarmers and Tower Beanie.
